Ruining Christmas

Somebody at work told me that I had “ruined [their] child’s Christmas” today, because they wouldn’t be getting something they had pre-ordered a month ago.

I remember when I was a Student Paediatric Nurse working on a Neurosurgical Ward at a Children’s Hospital, and a young girl of 14 – who had only been diagnosed with a brain tumour two weeks before – passed away in late November.

Let’s think about the definition of “ruined”, and see which one is more apt.

I think you’ll find it’s less about games consoles.
